POLICE IN MITETE ARREST 5 MURDER SUSPECTS

Police in Mitete District in Western Province have apprehended five suspects connected to murder cases and recovered one AK 47 with one round of ammunition.

Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga stated that the arrests followed a raid conducted by the police in the District.

“Police in Western Province have recovered one AK 47 Rifle loaded with one round of ammunition and have apprehended five suspects in connection with the murder cases that have rocked Mitete District in the recent past. The suspects have been identified as Chinyama Kayawe aged 30 of Samafu village , Mayombo Kamizhi aged 35 of Samawama village, Douglas Namunji aged 35 of Kakulanda village, Liambi Nasilele aged 48 of Kakulanda village and Chinyemba Chinyemba aged 37 of Lufuma village all of Mitete district in Western Province,” Mr Hamoonga stated.

He stated that police conducted a raid in the District with the help of the members of the public and managed to recover one AK47 Rifle in the process.

Mr Hamoonga stated that all the suspects are detained in police custody as investigations are still on-going.

He also stated that police in Kaoma, Western Province have arrested a 45 traditional healer identified as Kebby Pooto of Kapulanga compound in Mongu district for the offence of unlawful confinement and obtaining goods by false pretenses.

Mr Hamoonga stated that it is alleged that the suspect has been carrying out divining activities in the area by naming and confirming people to be practicing witchcraft and thereafter got animals as payment.

He stated that the suspect is in police custody awaiting court appearance.
