The Nakonde Magistrates’ Court has sentenced two Nakonde-based mechanics to two years imprisonment with hard labour for stealing items worth over K16, 000 from MBWE Motors Limited.

Appearing before resident magistrate Webster Milumbe was Mubanga Mulongoti and Humphrey Chanda, both mechanics, accused of stealing a diesel pipe, an airbag, a spacing pin, and a U-bolt, all valued at K16,900.

According to Nakonde FM, the duo were arrested on May 12, 2022, a day the alleged theft is believed to have occurred.

Magistrate Milumbe sentenced the duo to a 24-month jail term effective June 2, 2022.Theft by servant is contrary to section 272 and 278 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
