Nalolo District Commissioner Namatama Mupo has appealed to the Ministry of Health and its cooperating partners to tighten security at Nalolo District Pharmacy hub.

Ms. Mupo made the appeal after twenty boxes of coartem worth K500, 000 were stolen over the weekend at Nalolo District Pharmacy hub by unknown people.

Speaking on ZANIS, the District Commissioner has described the incident as unfortunate especially that the drugs have been stolen at a time when Malaria cases in the district are on the rise.

Ms. Mupo has however appealed to the people of Nalolo to remain calm as the matter has been reported to the police and investigations have since been instituted.

She further called on people not to panic as the district still has enough coartem that can last for the next three months.

And a pharmacist and security guard of Muoyo District Health Office have been arrested in connection with the stolen twenty boxes of coartem.

Western Division Police Commanding Officer Fwambo Siame confirmed the arrest of the duo to ZANIS in Nalolo, adding that investigations are currently underway.
