A Four year old boy identified as Jonathan Kasongo died as a result of injuries he sustained after a table fell on him, Zambia Police has stated.
The incident occurred on June 8, 2022 at 14:40 hours at Damishal Christian Academy School situated in Lusaka’s Libala area.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a heavy table which was in the passage adjacent to the classroom fell on him while he was playing with his friends. It is alleged that Pupils were playing in the same passage while waiting to be picked by their guardians.
The boy was rushed to Maina Soko Military Hospital where he was admitted. He died on June 9, 2022 at around 05:00 hours at the same Hospital.
Upon inquiry, postmortem examination results indicate that he died as a result of head injuries.
Therefore, Police suspect no foul play.
And an unidentified male pedestrian aged between 50 and 60 of unknown address died on the spot after he was hit by a Higer Bus.
The accident occurred on June 10, 2022 at 17:30 hours near the Makeni Flyover Bridge in Lusaka.
The accident is alleged to have happened when the said pedestrian who whilst standing by the pavement, suddenly decided to cross the road when the Higer bus registration number AJB 9121 property of Great North Road Academy which was driven by Austin Mushiwa aged 26 of SOS village in Lusaka was approaching and failed to stop the vehicle.
Police have opened an inquiry file into the incident. The body of the deceased was taken to the University Teaching Hospital Mortuary waiting for identification and postmortem to establish cause of death.
