A 36 year old man of Mazabuka district in Southern Province has been sentenced to seven years for stock theft.
Before the Mazabuka Magistrates’ Court was Katobela Ng’andu who, on dates unknown but between 21st and 22nd November 2021 in Mazabuka district, stole two heads of cattle valued at K22,500 from Fredrick Mutabali, contrary to section 275 (2) and 272 of the Penal Code Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.
At the time of his conviction and sentencing, Ng’andu was serving a different five year sentence for stock theft at an open air correctional facility in Nega Nega, Mazabuka.
He, however, committed that same offence of stock theft that has earned him a seven year jail term.
During trial, Ng’andu denied the charge of stock theft but he was proved guilty by the prosecution.
Accordingly, Mazabuka magistrate, Pasmall Mweetwa convicted Ng’andu and sentenced him to seven years hard labour.
