Chipata City Mayor George has thanked Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotion for hosting International Tournament between Zambia and Malawi in the city.
Speaking to Muvi tv News in Chipata during the tournament,the Mayor expressed happiness that chipata is slowly be becoming a center of sporting activities which will in tern help young people realize their dreams of different sporting activities.
He says Chipata City is headed for economic development in various spheres as the city positions itself to improve the livelihood of its people through such sporting events which brings people from all walks of life,hence improving tourism as many Lodges and hotels gets their much needed income.
The tournament saw the coming together of three countries namely Malawi ,Zambia and DRC as the main bolt was between Zambia Police Service Boxer, Constable Danny Mwale and Malawian, Aubrey Masamba.
It must be noted that this is the First ever Boxing Tournament to be held in Chipata City as a way of promoting Boxing in Eastern Province.
The tournament was attended was by Oriental Quarries boxing promotion Manager Christopher Malunga ,Former WBC champion Catherine Phiri,Paramount Chief Mpezeni and Chipata City Mayor George Mwanza.
