University of Zambia (UNZA) School of Medicine has lost one of it’s most long serving and dedicated Professor Krikor Erzingatsian.
Prof Krikor taught a number of senior doctors and supervised countless Masters Students in Surgery and Anatomy.
With an Armenian background but born in Ethiopia, Prof Krikor Erzingatsian, arrived in Zambia in 1977.
He has been a mentor and tutor to many surgeons in Zambia, Africa and Europe for many decades of his selfless service to humanity.
He died at the age of 80 years but was still active in teaching medical students in Zambia until the time of his death.
He published more than 50 publications in peer reviewed journals and presented approved scientific papers at more than 35 international conferences.
He is founder member of the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA).
Professor Krikor, as he was fondly known by his students, is former consultant and head of the department of surgery at UTH.
