Government has paid 2.6 billion kwacha to settle pension arrears owed to retirees by the Public Service Pensions Fund (PSPF) from years back up to last year December 31.
Chief Government Spokesperson Chusi Kasanda says Government is determined to further clear the outstanding dues for the year 2022, amounting to 1.1 billion kwacha, this is according to a report with Kalemba.
According to statement released yesterday by Kasanda who is also the Minister of Information and Media, Government has paid 300 million kwacha between last year and this year, leaving a balance of 150 million kwacha under the Local Authorities Superannuation Fund (LASF).
Kasanda said in this year’s supplementary budget, Government has made a provision of One billion kwacha to PSPF and 150 million kwacha to LASF for payment of pension arrears.
