Mulungushi university student have held a peaceful protest over student loans claiming that they have been left out of the list of those picked for the loans despite them being eligible.
According to the protesting students, out of 3551 students who applied for student loans only 1087 were granted the laons notwithstanding the fact that 3442 students were eligible.
“Breaking down the 1087 number of students who were picked, 700 are from rural areas and 387 are from the urban areas, the number of students who have been left out is just too big,” they said.
Are the rural areas the only places with vulnerable people? asked the students.
The students also want to know the criteria that was used to select the applicants.
