The Republican First Lady Mrs. Mutinta Hichilema today commissioned the construction of the Caleb Center for Children Living with Autism in Kabwe.

In an event held in Katondo Ward, Mrs. Hichilema said that Autistic children have unique capabilities despite being different and therefore should be natured in a special way for them to fully utilize their capabilities.

The first lady also took the opportunity to appreciate Kabwe Municipal Council for providing land for the construction of the Caleb center for children living with autism.

She also thanked the chief executive officer for the job she is doing for the differently abled.

Mrs Hichilema also handed over a jumper of assorted food items to Caleb center for children living with Autism.

And Provincial Minister Credo Nanjuwa also thanked the first lady for accepting to grace the occasion in Kabwe.

He said that his office has been following the humanitarian works that the first lady has been doing in the country.

Meanwhile Kabwe Mayor Patrick Chishala said that the center will help cater for the needs of children living with autism in Kabwe.

He added that he was honoured that Kabwe will be home to the special school.

Among the notables present at the event were, the Provincial Permanent Secretary Mr. Milner Mwanakampwe, the Provincial Chairman for the United Party for National Development (UPND) Mr. Albert Chifita, the District Commissioner Mr. Lennox Shimwambwa and Kabwe Town Clerk Mr. Jovax Ngoma.
