A 30-year-old Zambian man of Shangombo is in Hospital after being shot and wounded in the Republic of Angola.

Acting Western Division commanding officer, Fwambo Siame, confirmed the incident to ZANIS identifying the victim as Mwangala Changano of Kashitu compound in Shangombo district in Western Province.

Mr Siame disclosed that the victim sustained a gunshot wound on his right palm as well as on his upper right arm after an AK 47 was used in the act.

He said the victim who was shot on September 5, at around 23:00 hours at Keddy village, Rivungu area in Angola, had gone to Angola to buy wild tubers called ‘devils crow’.

Mr Siame disclosed that whilst in Angola the suspect allegedly spotted the victim talking to his wife who suspected them of having an affair.

He said it was at this point that the suspect who was standing at a distance placed an open firearm at the victim and shot him.

Mr Siame said the victim was rushed to a nearby clinic in Angola for treatment and later on September 8, 2022 was escorted to Shangombo Police station and thereafter admitted to Shangombo District Hospital.

ZANIS reports that the District Health Director Clacious Chandwa, confirmed that there might be a bullet that remained in the victim’s arm following the shooting as there was no sign of exit on the arm.

Dr. Chandwa, said the victim has since been referred to Lewanika General Hospital in Mongu, Western Province for further medical attention.
