PUPILS TESTIFY AGAINST TEACHER

A SCHOOL health prefect at Eastern Girls Technical Secondary School in Chipangali has told Chipata Magistrate Court that she told her fellow pupil who was allegedly defiled by her history teacher not to report him to the school administration unless the act repeated itself.

According to Zambia Daily mail, the minor told the court that she asked the 14-year-old Grade 9 pupil, who was with her four friends, not to report the matter to the school administration when she learnt what had happened.

A teacher at the school, Jairos Mtonga, 48, is accused of defiling one of the pupils in an examination class that had remained for holiday lessons at the school.

It is alleged that on August 29, 2022, the victim escorted her friend to the social science department to use a mobile phone belonging to one of the teachers.

She wanted to send her grocery budget to her parents.

However, in the process, the accused distracted the other pupil by sending her.
