The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has set today (October 3, 2022) as the date for a public hearing in Lusaka regarding Zesco Limited’s application to revise connection fees upwards.
Last May, Zesco submitted to ERB that electricity connection fees for one phase overhead should now cost K4,600, from K769 for customers in high density areas, while those in low density areas should be charged K13,300, from K2,873, with customers in undemarcated high density areas paying K7,000 from K1,709.
In a notice issued on Friday, ERB states that the public hearing will be held following receipt of submissions from stakeholders arising from advertisements placed in the media by the board, calling for comments on Zesco’s application.
“In addition to the above, kindly note that only members of the public who made written submissions in response to the ERB’s call for comments will be allowed to address the board. This is contained in a report published by Zambia Daily Mail.
