29-year-old Chris Choobe of Milandu village in Monze District in Southern Province has allegedly taken his own life by taking a poisonous substance.
Chikuni Mission Hospital Acting Medical Officer, Dr. Patrick Sichundu confirmed the incident saying the deceased was taken to the facility around 04hrs this morning.
Dr. Sichundu narrates that Choobe is suspected to have taken the cattle drug around 20hrs yesterday Sunday and was only rushed to the hospital for treatment early today.
He explains that health experts did their best to resuscitate the deceased but unfortunately it was too late partly because of the prolonged period after taking the poison.
The Police have been informed of the incident and the body of the deceased is at the hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem if the family decides so.
The motive behind Choobe allegedly taking his own life is not yet known. This is contained in a report published by Zambia Accurate Information.
