Let us not exaggerate the situation that in Lundazi, people can sleep on queues surely, Vice President Mutale Nalumango responds to Lundazi MP Brenda Nyirenda who wanted to know what is being done on the matter of fuel crisis in the area.
The lawmaker said Lundazi has had no fuel in the past one week adding that people are sleeping on queues.
In response, during her question time in Parliament today, Mrs Nalumango said the country has fuel despite some areas experiencing slow delivery.
“I think it is important for me to note that from the description of Lundazi, it must be a very developed district for people to be sleeping on the queues. I think members, let us not exaggerate the situation that in Lundazi people can queue on the line surely. You know what I am talking about Honorable,” she said.
“But we do appreciate that people are bringing up these concerns. But what I am told is that we have enough fuel. Yes, there may be areas where the delivery is slow. But the country in general has fuel.”
The Vice President made an assurance that the ministry in charge will intervene in the matter.
“Basically, the point I am making is that there is enough fuel in the country……it is the delivery. I think the ministry will work to ensure that fuel the intended areas. Otherwise, for the country, we have enough. I am informed Malawi is purchasing fuel from us. So how come that the people can allege that we don’t have enough fuel?
“There is enough fuel, but I will call upon the Minister and the regulators to ensure that all the parts of the country have fuel. I am sure it is coming Honourable Member. I think you have many cars, send some to Kaputa,” she said.
