A 3-year-old girl has died under mysterious circumstances in Vubwi District of Eastern Province.
ZANIS in Vubwi reports that the minor died in what appeared to be an organised su!c!de case.
The girl was found dead at the entrance of a goat kraal in Sankhulani village of Chief Pembamoyo.
According to a close relative of the family, Regis Tembo, the 3 year-old died in the early hours of Sunday after she was left playing with her five year old friend within their compound.
Mr Tembo disclosed that the juvenile was discovered lifeless with a n00se around her neck by the mother who was responding to a call of distress from her daughter’s friend who she was left with.
“The mother just heard the friend calling her to come and see what the deceased had done to herself. That is when she rushed to go and check only to find her daughter hanging in a kneeling position at the entrance of g0at kraal,” he said.
Mr Tembo, who is also the deceased’s grandfather narrated that the untimely death of his granddaughter caught his wife and him off guard as they were close when the incident happened.
“ My wife, I and my daughter in-law were close but from nowhere and in a short period of time we heard the other child screaming,” he said.
Mr Tembo added that efforts to take the child to Chikoma clinic in Vubwi could not help as health personnel there discovered she had died a long time ago.
And another relative who declined to be mentioned, suspected foul play in the death of the minor.
The source said there was no detectable evidence consistent with strangulation on the body.
“You know, when someone dies by hanging, they either poop in their pants or their tongue sticks out but on the body of this girl there was nothing whatsoever suggesting that she died of strangulation,” the source hinted.
The body of the minor has since been buried at Kachamba village in Malawi where she originated after her mother married a Zambian man, Rabson Tembo, of Sankhulani village two months ago.
Police Command in Eastern Province is yet to issue a statement concerning the case as they were still conducting investigations by press time.
