MANDEVU PF member of parliament Christopher Shakafuswa has added his tenor voice to the chorus of praise of President Hakainde Hichilema and his government’s achievements.

With developmental projects directly benefiting citizens sprouting everywhere, it has become increasingly difficult for even the most religious of critics of the government to stay mute.

The impact of the increased Constituency Development Fund (CDF), for instance, is loud such that the projects being born out of it are manifesting their elegance for all to see.

In Mandevu Constituency, governnment has handed over two classroom blocks which were constructed at the cost of over K1.6 million.

Through Lusaka City Council (LCC), governnment has handed over a 1 X 3 classroom block at Justine Kabwe Secondary School and another 1 X 3 classroom block at Kabanana Primary School, all within in Mandevu.

The classroom block at Justine Kabwe Secondary School was constructed at K1,160,000 using the 2021 and 2022 CDF allocation while K483,947.94 was spent for the block at Kabanana Primary School that has been constructed using 2022 CDF allocation with other funds supported by stakeholders.

This is according to LCC public relations officer Glenda Nachinga.

Speaking at the handover event of the classroom blocks, Shakafuswa praised the New Dawn government for prioritising education through financing the construction of classroom blocks and sponsorship of skills development and boarding secondary school bursaries.

Shakafuswa crystallised with joy seeing the newly constructed classrooms stocked with desks.

The lawmaker said investing in education is equal to empowering young people and securing a brighter future for communities.

At the same event, Lusaka district commissioner Rosa Zulu said the hand-over of the classroom blocks is representative of the UPND-led government’s passion to improving quality education in the country.

She added that by investing in education and prioritising development of educational infrastructure, the government is laying a solid foundation for the future success and prosperity of the community.

Meanwhile, Lusaka district education standards officer Nathan Kasune said the new classroom blocks will contribute to providing a conducive learning environment for the over 5, 200 and 6, 000 learners at Justine Kabwe Secondary School and Kabanana Primary Schools, respectively.

While cautioning learners at the two schools against any kind of vandalism, Dr Kasune called for the construction of more educational infrastructure to meet the learning requirements.
