The 2024 General Certificate of Education (GCE) exams have posted impressive results, with higher pass rates compared to 2023.
This achievement is even more remarkable given that both the Junior Secondary School External (JSE) and GCE exams were conducted without any incidents of exam leaks.
According to Education Minister Douglas Syakalima, the GCE exams boasted an impressive 87.38% pass rate, with 120,660 candidates passing at least one subject.
This is a 6.48 percentage point increase from the previous year. Additionally, 7,999 students obtained certificates, while 15,440 obtained statements for passing at least one but less than six subjects.
With a decline in absenteeism and a successful collaboration between the Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) and other stakeholders, the 2024 GCE exams have indeed marked a significant accomplishment in the education sector.
