The Zambia Police Service has dismissed allegations that the late Sergeant Mike Mumba’s wife was evicted from a police camp in State Lodge.

In an official statement, Police Public Relations Officer Rae Hamoonga clarified that Sergeant Mumba’s legally recognized wife passed away three months before his death. He further stated that all officially listed beneficiaries remain in occupation of House Number H8 at the State Lodge police camp.

The police also addressed a viral video featuring Ms. Mercy Mwansa, who claimed to have been evicted from the premises. According to relatives residing in the house, Ms. Mwansa had a child with the late officer, and the child has been under her care with support from Mumba’s family.

“The Zambia Police Service acknowledges the challenges bereaved families face and remains committed to following due process in handling matters concerning deceased officers’ dependents,” Hamoonga said.

The police further urged media houses and the public to verify information before spreading unconfirmed reports that may mislead the public and cause unnecessary distress.

For official records and inquiries, the public and media are encouraged to contact the Zambia Police Public Relations Office.
