In a significant stride toward enhancing road infrastructure, the Lusaka City Council has officially commissioned five newly paved roads in Kabwata Constituency, marking a major milestone under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) initiative.
This development is expected to substantially improve transportation, safety and access to critical goods and services across the constituency.
The upgraded road network spans key sections of Kamwala South and Lilayi, enhancing connectivity to strategic routes such as Dr. Aggrey Road, Paul Ngozi Road and the Lusaka Water and Sanitation Company premises.
Presiding over the commissioning ceremony, Lusaka District Commissioner, Ms. Rosa K. Zulu, commended the constituency’s leadership for its transparent and effective management of public resources.
She emphasized that these roads represent more than physical infrastructure as they are enablers of economic activity, safer travels and better access to services, demonstrating tangible benefits of community-driven development.
A total investment of K2,716,596.75 was allocated to the project, with a breakdown of K1,187,001.90 for the road linking Dr. Aggrey Road to Burma Road, K813,258.60 for the road branching off Paul Ngozi Road, and K716,336.25 for the access road leading to the Lusaka Water and Sanitation Company.
Kabwata Member of Parliament, Hon. Andrew Tayengwa, reinforced the significance of the project, describing it as a clear indicator of the constituency’s dedication to delivering visible and impactful development.
Kabwata CDF Chairperson, Mr. Chilekwa Munkonge, announced plans for the next phase of infrastructure enhancement, which includes installing streetlights in underserved areas to boost public safety.
And residents have expressed appreciation for the government’s responsiveness and focus on practical development, reflecting the council’s commitment to improving lives in Kabwata Constituency.
