The Victoria Falls experienced a surge in tourist visits during the Easter holiday, with 3 thousand 9 hundred and sixty-three local tourists and 7 hundred and twenty-one international tourists.
Minister of Tourism Rodney Sikumba attributed the increase in domestic tourists to Livingstone to the government’s efforts in promoting domestic tourism through the Zambia Tourism Agency -ZTA.
MR. Sikumba emphasized that the domestic tourism market remains a priority, whether for leisure or business tourism.
ZTA Chief Executive Officer Matongo Matamwandi says as part of the agency’s ongoing campaign to promote domestic tourism, the Agency encourages tourism operators to continue offering local rates to Zambians.
Mr. Matamwandi added that ZTA looks forward to seeing more Zambians taking local family holidays, not only in Livingstone but also in other parts of the country, such as Samfya Beach in the northern circuit.
This according to a statement made available to Zambia Reports by Ministry of Tourism Communications and Corporate Affairs Manager Hildah Mwale.
