A Zambian delegation led by Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Mulambo Haimbe and Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Minister Charles Milupi arrived in Rome last night to attend the funeral mass of His Holiness Pope Francis, scheduled for Saturday.
The ministers are representing President Hakainde Hichilema at the solemn occasion.
Also part of the official delegation are Archbishop Ignatius Chama of the Kasama Diocese President of the Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB) and Bishop George Lungu of the Chipata Diocese.
The delegation was received at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport by Zambia’s Ambassador to the Holy See, Macenje Mazoka, and Zambia’s Ambassador to Italy, Patricia Chisanga Kondolo.
Pope Francis passed away on Monday, 21st April 2025, at the age of 88. He will be laid to rest following a funeral mass at St. Peter’s Basilica.
