A nine-month-old child who died in a K10 money-throwing stampede at a youth rally held at Maramba Stadium in Livingstone has been laid to rest. The burial program was held yesterday, Sunday, April 27, 2025, and was attended by Mwalibonena Ward Councilor Juliet Hambizi, who presides over Burton Compound, where the funeral house was located, and Maramba Ward Councilor Evans Sakala, among other selected UPND officials.

As per Zambian culture and tradition, a burial involving an infant less than a year old is attended by a limited number of people, including family members.

The sudden death of the child, who died in the stampede (as earlier reported in various media platforms), has received mixed reactions from citizens. Some have blamed the child’s mother (Victoria Musiyalike, aged 23), while others hold the view that Livingstone Mayor Constance Muleabai was wrong to throw money at the crowd.
