Isoka District Commissioner, Jairo Simbeye, had a brush with death not once but twice in a single day, surviving two separate road accidents while on duty in rural parts of the district.
The first incident occurred in the morning as he was heading to Chitunji to sensitize the community on the ongoing Mobile National Registration Card Exercise.
His vehicle reportedly lost control unexpectedly but was safely recovered with the help of concerned residents.
Later in the evening, around 19:00 hours, another unfolded along the Mweniwisi Road—about 7 kilometers before reaching Mweniwisi Primary School.
Mr. Simbeye was returning from Kanyala ward when the vehicle failed to negotiate a sharp curve and slid off to the side of the road.
Five people were on board at the time, but all escaped without injuries.
“This is the second time a similar thing has happened on the same day. I thank God that we are all safe. It could have been worse.” the DC told ISOFM News.
