Lusaka, Showgrounds – August, 2025

At this year’s 97th Agricultural & Commercial Show at Lusaka’s Showgrounds, Czech companies showcased their latest innovations, supported by the Czech Development Agency, and laid the groundwork for expanding B2B projects into Zambia’s growing agribusiness sector.

A key highlight was the presentation of a planned new production line, set to begin operations in Lusaka in January 2026, in collaboration with local partners. This venture marks a significant step from pilot projects to full-scale, locally based operations that will create jobs and strengthen supply chains across the region.

The Czech exhibition stand gained special prominence with the visit of Honorable Minister of Fisheries and Livestock of the Republic of Zambia, Mr. Peter Chibwe Kapala, who expressed clear enthusiasm for the Czech technology on display: “We appreciate the Czech Republic’s support for the livestock sector and its development. Zambia welcomes such partnerships and we hope to see continued cooperation, especially in the area of agricultural mechanisation, which is something our country urgently needs”. He met with H.E. Pavel Procházka, Czech Ambassador to Zambia, marking a symbolic moment of high-level engagement.

“This project demonstrates the Czech Republic’s commitment to contributing to Zambia’s development, and will start operating in Lusaka in January 2026,” said Ambassador Procházka. “Embassy of the Czech Republic in Zambia is proud to support projects that empower the private sector. We believe that development and business can go hand in hand when local value chains are prioritised.”

This intervention reflects CzechAid’s strategic approach: moving beyond conventional aid to foster sustainable, private-sector-led development. By investing in local production, the initiative will not only generate employment but also transfer valuable know-how and drive inclusive economic growth.

Czech enterprises continue to build on this momentum, exploring further expansion in sectors such as agriculture, green technology, and agro-processing. The success of the Czech companies at the Agricultural & Commercial Show underscores the country’s role as a trusted partner in Zambia’s economic transformation. As the partnership evolves, Czech-Zambian cooperation is paving the way for privately supported infrastructure and production chains, ensuring long-term impact and mutual prosperity.
