Zambia Sugar Managing Director, Oswald Magwenzi, has encouraged young people to have purpose, personality and passion to grow in their careers. Magwenzi reiterated the company’s commitment to reducing unemployment through various career opportunities, with the Management in Training (MIT) programme being a key initiative to groom future leaders. Magwenzi was speaking at the launch of the MIT Careers fair in Mazabuka on Thursday.During the launch, the company invited 150 young professionals from diverse backgrounds and offered them a glimpse of Zambia Sugar’s operations as part of the 2025 Zambia Sugar Careers Fair. Muchimba Muunyu and Miniver Kabwela, who are both Production Shift Managers and the first two women in the role, encouraged young professionals to showcase their value when opportunities arise. The duo who joined the MIT programme after graduating as Chemical Engineers from the Copperbelt University in 2019, described their experience as a period of growth. And Zambia Sugar Agri-business Director, Emmanuel Simwiinga, and Estate Support Services Director, Collins Phiri, both MIT programme alumni, also shared their insights.Simwiinga encouraged young professionals to seize opportunities, while Phiri emphasized the importance of respecting and learning from others to progress in one’s career.The Company has committed to making the MIT careers fair and annual event.Ends
