Zambia Reports management has been made aware of a photoshopped picture bearing our logo and name, suggesting that we posted a statement to the effect that the Government of the Republic of Zambia has cancelled its maize “deal with Malawi due to non-payment”.
Kindly be advised that at no point did Zambia Reports make such a post today, yesterday or any past days, and in fact, not even in the future. Careful scrutinization of the circulated picture by a team of experts has shown that the material in question was photoshopped, in the same fashion some unscrupulous individuals photoshopped President Hakainde Hichilema’s page with a post suggesting his immediate response to the unfortunate happenings in Chingola.
Our lawyers have been notified of the matter, and are awaiting conclusion of investigations to ascertain the source of the photoshop before appropriate legal actions are taken. We also urge the government to immediately investigate the source of these photoshopped materials which have, in some instances, put the Presidency and other key government institutions into disrepute.
As a credible media institution, we have never shied away from taking blame when we make mistakes or when we don’t get facts right – we apologise, retract and offer other appropriate remedies as required by journalistic ethics.
We urge you all to disregard the post in question and dismiss it with the contempt it deserves.
