A 20-YEAR-OLD man of Mufulira’s Kawama East Township has been arrested for allegedly rap!ng a 25-year-old woman in the presence of his friends.
On Monday, around midnight, the suspect, Wycliff Chima, is believed to have been in the company of five friends, who approached the victim and questioned where she was coming from and heading to.
However, Chima took advantage of the situation and s£xually abused the victim as his friends watched.
According to Copperbelt Province police commanding officer Mwala Yuyi, the victim complained of a painful private part and waist, and general body pains.
Mr Yuyi said on the material day, the victim, while on her way home from a drinking spree, met six men who pretended to be concerned about her safety.
He said of the six men, Chima had carnal knowledge of her as his five friends watched.
Mr Yuyi said the victim called for help and was rescued by a man who was within the area but the suspect ran away.
He said the good Samaritan identified the suspect, who was apprehended the following day.
