The Chewa Heritage Foundation has announced that the Kulamba Traditional Ceremony of the Chewa people of Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique will take place on August 29, 2026, at Mkaika in Katete District.

Organising Chairperson for fundraising Committee Reuben Kamanga confirmed the development to Breeze FM News.

Mr. Kamanga further revealed that this year’s event will feature a sponsors’ exhibition, where paramount chief Kalonga Gawa Undi is expected to interact with sponsors and other key stakeholders.

Kulamba Traditional Ceremony is a thanksgiving ceremony of the Chewa people, during which chiefs from across Zambia, Malawi, and Mozambique gather at Mkaika to pay homage to their supreme leader, Kalonga Gawa Undi.

The ceremony attracts thousands of participants each year and serves as an important platform for promoting cultural heritage, unity, and traditional leadership among the Chewa people.
