The incidents are believed to have happened in Irrigation area of Sinazongwe district, between April and May this year.
Southern Province Police Commanding Officer, Moono Namalongo has confirmed, stating that the matter was reported on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.
Mr Namalongo has explained that both the suspect and the girl were visiting her brother during school holidays, when this happened.
He said during the same period, the suspect, who is related to the family through marriage, began having unlawful carnal knowledge of the victim, repeatedly abusing her throughout the stay.
Mr Namalongo says the incident was only discovered when the girl returned home in Sinazeze township, when the mother discovered blood stains on several of her pants.
He has added that upon inquiry, the girl narrated what had transpired during her stay in Irrigation area.No arrest has been made but police have instituted investigations.
