Aspiring Solwezi Central Member of Parliament Poho Kawina has continued gaining attention across the constituency following the construction and official handover of a footbridge connecting the Wisdom and Kazomba communities.

The initiative comes after a tragic incident during the recent rainy season floods in which a school-going child lost their life while attempting to cross the same stream.

Community members described the project as timely and life-saving, particularly for school children, traders, and residents who have struggled to safely cross the area during heavy rains.

The handover ceremony was attended by senior sub-chiefs from the Kapiji-Mpanga Royal Establishment, who commended Kawina for demonstrating practical leadership and responding to the needs of the people. The traditional leaders reportedly praised the young aspiring leader for taking action to protect lives and improve community connectivity even before assuming public office.

Kawina, widely regarded by many residents as an action-oriented youth leader, has over the years undertaken several community-driven projects prior to entering office. Among the notable initiatives attributed to him are the drilling of solar-powered boreholes to improve access to clean and safe water, the installation of lithium-powered solar backup systems in over 22 clinics across Solwezi, and electrification support provided to Solwezi College of Education.

He has also supported churches, vulnerable families, schools, and youth empowerment activities through sports and entrepreneurship initiatives.

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Kawina reportedly reaffirmed his commitment to practical leadership and community development, stating that leadership should be measured by action and impact rather than promises alone.

Kawina is aspiring to represent Solwezi Central Constituency in the 2026 General Elections and has pledged to focus on infrastructure development, water access, youth empowerment, and improved living conditions for the people of Solwezi.
