Police in Chadiza District, Eastern Province have arrested a 48 year old witch doctor for defiling his 15 year old granddaughter.
Sesema Zulu of Mpheta village Chief Zingalume is alleged to have committed the offence around 01: 00 hours yesterday before going into hiding but was apprehended from his girlfriend’s house at Mphula village around 22:00 last night.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba said the suspect went to the village where the victim and her parents were staying around 18: 00 on Saturday.
He said the victim later escorted the suspect who gave her some medicine which he told her to throw into a hole.
Mr Mweemba said as the victim bent down, the suspect pushed her to the ground and had carnal knowledge of her before fleeing.
Mr Mweemba said the girl screamed but no one came to her rescue because it was in the bush.
He said the girl narrated what transpired to her parents who reported the matter to Chadiza police station.
