The Zambia Police Service has confirmed the apprehension of four suspects in connection with the political violence that took place in the John Howard area of Chawama on June 5, 2026. The individuals in custody have been identified as 43-year-old Ricky Chambawilo, 41-year-old Thomas Mvula, 42-year-old Peter Mwaba, and 46-year-old Rickson Phiri. All four are Lusaka residents who had been on the police wanted list following their alleged involvement in a group that engaged in political unrest.

The suspects are currently facing allegations of aggravated robbery, malicious damage to property, assault, and unlawful wounding. They were successfully tracked and apprehended on June 9, 2026, at the Protea Hotel in Chipata, where they were found among a group of individuals gathered outside the premises. The suspects remain in police custody as they await the filing of formal charges.
