A security guard aged 33 has died at Chambishi Copper Smelter (CCS) after he was hit by an unknown object while working.
The incident happened on Wednesday around 18:00 hours at the company’s car washing bay near the concentrator shed.
Copperbelt Province police commanding officer Mwala Yuyi said Twambo Chileshe sustained severe head injuries.
Mr Yuyi said the matter was reported to police at 21:00 hours by CCS security officer Lufelo Nyambe.
He said according to preliminary investigations, Mr Chileshe was working alone at the washing bay when he was found lying unconscious on the ground.
Mr Yuyi said his safety helmet, which was found nearby, had a crack on its left side, suggesting he may have been struck with an object.
