President Hakainde Hichilema says the Lewanika University in Mongu District whose construction works have stalled for some time will be completed.

President Hichilema says the University project will be completed to expand access to tertiary education in the province.

President Hichilema says funds to support the completion of the university will be included in the 2027 budget so that more children can access tertiary education.

He says this is a promise that will be delivered because Government is committed to taking education closer to the people.

President Hichilema says this is evident by the introduction of free education as one of the government’s flagship programmes aimed at ensuring every child has access to learning regardless of their family’s financial status.

Speaking upon arrival in Mongu, the President has also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to improving the lives of people in Western Province.

And President Hichilema has called on the people of Western Province to turn up in numbers and vote for the UPND for continued freedom, rule of law, order and development in the country.

President Hichilema said with the UPND getting more votes during the 2026 general elections will enable more women, youths and people living with disability to be accorded an opportunity to be appointed to Parliament.

And UPND Provincial Chairperson Kapelwa Mbwangeta assured President Hichilema that the party in the province is working tirelessly to mobilise the party and woo more votes .

And Western Province Permanent Secretary Simomo Akapelwa thanked the President for coming to the province saying his visits are always rejuvenating.
