The Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation, ZNBC, has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that one of its employees was dismissed for covering a political rally in Kitwe.
In a statement issued in Lusaka today, ZNBC Head of Corporate Affairs, YVETTE CHANDA, described the reports as false and malicious.
Mrs. CHANDA said the story claims that a member of staff was sacked for covering the National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity, NRPUP, rally held in Kitwe on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
She said the allegations are entirely false and are created to mislead the public.
Mrs. CHANDA stated that no member of staff has been dismissed, suspended, or subjected to disciplinary action in connection with the coverage of the rally or any other political activity.
She has since called on social media users and media organisations to verify information through official channels before publishing or sharing it.
Mrs. CHANDA also urged the public to disregard the circulating claims, warning against the spread of misinformation.
