Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts Hon. Elvis Nkandu has expressed happiness at the Chipolopolo for bringing the COSAFA Cup back home.
Speaking when he went to receive the Chipolopolo COSAFA squad that landed in Lusaka at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport as they returned from South Africa where they defended the Cup, Honourable Nkandu expressed joy and profound gratitude to the team for again minting gold at the regional tournament.
“We are very proud of you as Government and people need to understand that you were not the only ones looking for this cup, we had a lot of countries there and for you to emerge victorious it was not something that was very easy,” said Hon Nkandu.
Ministry of Youth, Sports and Arts Permanent Secretary Kangwa Chileshe, FAZ President Andrew Kamanga and Directors of Sport in the ministry were also part of delegation that went to receive the triumphant team while Kamanga urged the lads to stay alert to the many opportunities where they will showcase their talent.
Mr. Kamanga said, “you now have an opportunity to fight to be in the CHAN team and those who excel will also go to the Africa Cup tournament which will be in January [2024]. So, the opportunities for you players are quite immerse, you have a very good reason to continue excelling.”
Zambia retained the COSAFA cup wining it for the 7th time making them lead the log sheet with Zimbabwe in second place who have won it 6 times.
