United Party for National Development (UPND) Media Director, Mark Simuuwe, has highlighted the benefits of the Lusaka-Ndola dual carriageway project, stating that it will help reduce road accidents and significantly shorten travel time for motorists once completed.
Speaking during a site inspection of the ongoing works, Mr. Simuuwe emphasized that the project is a step forward in improving road safety and transportation efficiency.
“This new road will ease congestion and reduce the frequency of accidents that have been common along this route,” he said. “It will also allow drivers to travel more quickly, boosting productivity and contributing to economic development.”
The road is being constructed through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement with a Chinese company, with completion targeted within a three-year timeframe.
Mr. Simuuwe also pointed out that the UPND is making good on its campaign commitments. “What we promised Zambians while in opposition is coming to life. We are making real progress in developing infrastructure that benefits everyone.”
The Lusaka-Ndola route is a vital link between Zambia’s capital and the Copperbelt Province. The new dual carriageway is expected to improve trade and mobility along this major transport corridor, which has long suffered from poor road conditions and frequent accidents.
