A 52-Year-Old bus conductor has died after falling from a moving bus traveling from Chama District to Lusaka in Lundazi District.
The accident occurred today, August 19, 2025, around 07:00 hours at Egichikeni turn-off, about 45 kilometers north of Lundazi Boma along the Chama-Lundazi road.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner, Robertson Mweemba, confirmed the death of Michael Nkhata of Khulamayembe area.
Mr. Mweemba says the accident happened when the conductor fell off the moving vehicle, and the rear wheels ran over both his legs.
He says the conductor, who sustained fractures to both legs, died on the way to Lundazi District Hospital.
The incident involved a Scania Marcopolo bus belonging to T.C Transport Company, which had no damage and was being driven by Agripa Phiri, 41, from Lusaka West with 57 passengers on board.
And TC Transport Manager, Sadam Mtonga, confirmed the incident, explaining that Michael Nkhata slipped on the door of the bus as he was trying to board after picking up some passengers along the way.
Mr. Mtonga said all passengers were safe.
