In Kamwala South Quarry area, life has taken a positive turn with the installation of a community borehole powered by solar energy.

The system is connected to a 20,000-liter water tank that supplies water directly to 90 households through tap yards, benefiting over 500 people every single day.

This life-changing project was initiated by Lloyd Chanda, former University of Zambia Student Union leader and former Minister of Water, Sanitation, Health and Environment. Through his vision, a water network system was developed to bring safe, clean and reliable water closer to families in this growing urban community.

💬 “Access to water is a basic human need, and this borehole has brought dignity to our lives,” shared one community member.

However, with the population in the area steadily growing, one borehole is not enough. To continue expanding access and ensure every household has clean water, the community is appealing to the Ministry of Water and to well-wishers to help with the sinking of an additional borehole.

💧 Every extra borehole means better health, reduced distances to fetch water, and improved sanitation.

🙏 We kindly appeal to partners, stakeholders, and friends of the community to join hands with us in this mission of providing safe and clean water to all.
