One person has died while four others have been left injured in a road accident in Sinda District of Eastern Province.
The accident occurred today, Tuesday, October 7, 2025, around 06:00 hours in Mnyamadzi area near the Kapoche Parliamentary Constituency office along the Great East Road.
Involved was a Toyota Hilux which was being driven by Kelvin Moonga, aged 28, of Chilanga Compound, Lusaka, who sustained a cut on his right hand.
Eastern Province Police Commissioner Robertson Mweemba says Moonga had four passengers on board.
He says Paul Kantini, aged between 25 to 30, of Kanyama Compound, Lusaka, sustained fatal head injuries and died on the spot, and Sydney Kangwa, aged 37, from Lusaka, sustained suspected fractured left hand and general body pains.
Mr. Mweemba says Fredrick Bwalya, aged 20, of Chawama Compound, Lusaka, sustained a dislocated ankle, and James Sinyangwe, aged 36, of Magandanyama Compound, Kabwe, complained of painful right ribs and general body pains.
He says the accident happened when the driver, due to excessive speed, lost control of the motor vehicle and went to the extreme right side of the road and fell into a ditch.
Mr Mweemba says the victims were rushed to Sinda Zonal Clinic and later referred to St. Francis Mission Hospital, where they are currently admitted.
