President Hakainde Hichilema has congratulated the Zambia Women’s National Football Team for qualifying for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) to be held in Morocco.

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, President Hichilema hailed the Copper Queens for their emphatic 3-0 victory over Namibia, which sealed a 7-2 aggregate win and secured their place at the continental showpiece.

“Congratulations to the Zambia Women National Team for qualifying for the Morocco 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations after beating Namibia 3-0 on the day and 7-2 on aggregate. Congratulations to FAZ, the technical bench, players, and fans for this victory,” President Hichilema wrote.

The Head of State also commended the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ), the technical team, and the fans for their continued support, describing the qualification as a proud moment for the nation.

Zambia will now shift focus to preparations for the WAFCON tournament as they aim to build on their strong continental record.
