THE BOY WHO BECAME PATSON DAKA’S LUCKY CHARM LAST SATURDAY When 10-year-old Teddy walked into Leicester City’s dressing room last Saturday, he had no idea he was about to create a moment that would touch thousands of hearts. Teddy, who is severely visually impaired because of Alström syndrome, had been invited to the match against Stoke City to try out the club’s special audio descriptive commentary service, something designed to help young fans like him experience the beautiful game in their own unique way.

But football has a funny way of turning ordinary moments into magic. As Teddy explored the dressing room during his special tour, he was taken into the boot room by the club’s kitman. With excitement, Teddy leaned forward and gently kissed the right boot of his favourite player Patson Daka.

No one could have predicted what would happen next. Later that afternoon, in front of thousands at King Power Stadium, Patson Daka found the back of the net, scoring his first goal of the season. The stadium roared, but somewhere in the stands, one small boy cheered with a joy that came straight from the heart.

Teddy’s father later said what many were already thinking, “He was Patson Daka’s lucky charm.”

The moment felt bigger than football. It was a reminder that sometimes, the greatest gifts come from the smallest hands. And that heroes are not only found on the pitch, they are sometimes found in the courage of a little boy who refuses to let a condition dim his excitement for life.

For Daka, the story became a reminder of why football matters, not just for goals and wins, but for the moments that connect hearts across borders and generations.

And for the rest of us, it’s a beautiful lesson that a little faith is all it takes to create a special moment.
