Earlier today, a serious electrical fire incident nearly claimed the lives of three people. The situation could have ended in tragedy, but thanks to the swift and professional response of the Fire Brigade officers, the fire was quickly brought under control. The officers also intervened in time to stop victims who were attempting to quench the electrical fire with water—an action that could have resulted in fatal electrocution.

Following the incident, Firefighter Micheal Mutelo has advised members of the community to exercise heightened caution regarding electrical fires, especially during this period. This season records a higher number of electrical fire outbreaks due to increased power usage, faulty wiring, overloaded sockets, and unsafe electrical appliances.

The public is strongly reminded never to use water on electrical fires, to switch off power at the main source if safe to do so, and to contact the Fire Brigade immediately in the event of any electrical fire. Early reporting and correct response save lives, property, and prevent unnecessary injuries.

Fire safety is a shared responsibility. Awareness, caution, and quick action can make the difference between life and loss.
