The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has arrested three people in separate intelligence-led operations in Northern and Lusaka Provinces, resulting in the seizure of more than 20 kilogrammes of cannabis.
The suspects have been identified as Joseph Kaoma, 23, Oliver Mukuka, 21, and Chibeka Chola, 33.
In Kasama, DEC officers conducted two separate operations that led to the arrests of Kaoma and Mukuka for alleged trafficking in dry loose cannabis.
Kaoma, of Chipolo Village, was arrested in connection with the alleged trafficking of 12.5 kilogrammes of cannabis.
Mukuka, of Ndatoka Village, was separately apprehended over the alleged trafficking of 7.9 kilogrammes of dry loose cannabis.
Meanwhile, in Lusaka Province, DEC officers arrested Chola following an intelligence-led operation in the Silverest area.
The operation, conducted on August 25, 2026, resulted in the seizure of three sachets of high-grade cannabis weighing 10 grammes, according to DEC Public Relations Officer Allan Tamba.
The Commission said a search of Chola’s residence was extended to his vehicle, where the suspected drugs were allegedly found concealed in a Ziploc bag.
DEC has also seized a white Mitsubishi Pajero, registration number AGB 7151, which the Commission says was used in connection with the alleged offence.
The three suspects are being held in lawful custody pending court appearances.
The DEC said the arrests demonstrate its continued reliance on intelligence-led operations to disrupt drug trafficking networks and tackle related crimes, including money laundering.
The Commission has also appealed to members of the public to report suspected drug-related activities to help law-enforcement agencies prevent and combat drug trafficking and protect communities.
