Government has directed Zambia Police Traffic Officers to ensure that no trucks are allowed to park at undesignated spots on the road while truck parks remain empty, including those currently parked along the road towards Kasumbalesa Border.
According to Phoenix, transport and Logistics Minister Frank Tayali said even trucks that are currently marooned between Kitwe and Kasumbalesa border post due to the situation at that crossing point, must be directed to various truck parks designated along the route and only allowed to be on the roadside once they are cleared to cross the border.
Mr. Tayali says the implementation of the National Transport Policy under which truck parks and dry ports are to be operated, is an inter-ministerial undertaking involving the local authorities through the Ministry of Local Government and Police under the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security.-
