The Ministry of Education is investigating cases of the two children, who died last week, following accidents, at their schools.

Ministry of Education Assistant Director for Standards, JAMES CHOMBA says officers have been dispatched to the two schools to investigate and a detailed report will later be availed.

Mr. CHOMBA however says the Ministry of Education will continue to conduct quarterly inspections to check on safety measures, sanitation and the water situation.

He however urged Early Childhood Education Schools to ensure each class has two teachers and one care-giver, adding that activities of children should be monitored.

The cases being investigated are that of ANASTASIA KASHANGA, aged 3, who died on June 7, after a ZEBRA statue fell on her, and JONATHAN KASONGO, aged 4, died on June 9, after a heavy table fell on him.

Meanwhile, Lusaka’s Damishael Christina Academy, where JONATHAN was a pupil, has suspended lessons to allow investigations into the matter and for other pupils to be counseled.
