(ZNBC) Police in Lusaka are holding a 13 year old Juvenile for allegedly murdering of a one year old baby in Mtendere East Compound.
Accorring to a report published by ZNBC, the 13 year old female juvenile is alleged to have hit the baby to the floor of the house after it defecated.
The mother of the baby Faith Banda is reported to have been leaving her child in the custody of the juvenile while she went out for work.
Zambia Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale says the incident occurred on January 3, 2023 around 11:00 hours.
Mr. Mwale said Police were alerted and rushed to the scene where they found the baby unresponsive.
He said the baby was pronounced dead upon arrival at the University Teaching Hospitals.
After being interrogated, the juvenile revealed that the baby was crying persistently and this upset her who then ended up lifting the baby and hit her against the floor of the house.
He said the body has been deposited in the University Teaching Hospitals mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
