The Chipolopolo boys take on the Teranga Lions of Senegal this evening (Friday) in the 2022 Hollywoodbets Cosafa Cup semifinal set for the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Guest team Senegal, who were losing finalists in 2021 qualified to the semifinal after seeing off Eswatini via a penalty shoot-out.
The Chipolopolo took a similar route to the semis after shooting down the Zebras in the quarterfinal.
Coach Aljosa Asanovic will be looking to make an impression on his debut Cosafa assignment and hope to build on the first game success of Moses Sichone who oversaw the first match.
The number one spot looks set to be commanded by the Cyril Chibwe while the backline will have a host of players knocking on the door among them skipper Benedict Chepeshi, Shemmy Mayembe, Luka Banda, Allan Kapila, Prosper Chiluya and Dominic Chanda.
In midfield the enforcer role may be handed to Kelvin Kapumbu or Dickson Chapa while fluidity may come through Prince Mumba, Joshua Mutale, Kelvin Kampamba, Spencer Sautu and Joshua Mutale. Upfront Ricky Banda may be looking to support from Patrick Gondwe or Albert Kangwanda.
Senegal is participating in the Cosafa tournament for the second successive time and will be looking to get past the Chipolopolo in a crunch tie.
The WAFU champions is no stranger to contests with the Chipolopolo with the two sides clashing in Thies last year in an international friendly that the West Africans won 3-1.
Kickoff for the semifinal is at 19H00 and will be live on SuperSport.
In the other semifinal Mozambique will face Namibia in a 16H00 kickoff at the same venue.
