The Football Association of Zambia – FAZ has emphasized that the Women’s National Football Team must be addressed as the Copper Queens and not as the Shepolopolo.
FAZ General Secretary ADRIAN KASHALA says Copper Queens conforms to the status and pedigree of the team as opposed to the Shepolopolo which was feminine and derived from Chipolopolo.
KASHALA says the Association is proud of the Copper Queens for the historic qualification to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and finishing third at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations for the first time.
Speaking during a top star organised welcome dinner for the team, KASHALA encouraged the Copper Queens to remain spirited ahead of the Women’s World Cup tournament.
And Ministry of Youth Sport and Arts Permanent Secretary KANGWA CHILESHE who was represented by Director Of Finance MORDSEN RUVEVE urged the team to remain focused as they head to the Women’s World Cup.
Meanwhile Top Star Public Relations Manager JOY CHULA congratulated the Copper Queens for exhibiting resilience at the Women’s Africa Cup tournament.
The dinner was graced by FAZ President ANDREW KAMANGA and other FAZ officials.
